Lakewood Theater: Inside the the lighted ball at the top

Progress continues. For most of us, we’ve never been able to get close enough to see this feature in this much detail. Below, however, are photos that are not just close, but let you see INSIDE. They were taken in the restoration shop a few weeks ago, just after the ball was opened for restoration. It is clear now that the lights on this ball used to “twinkle” with the help of a mechanism from 1939. Unfortunately, this restoration won’t restore the twinkle, but so many of the parts will be updated that we can expect it to be burning brightly for years to come.
