I recently had the chance to speak with Hardy Habberman and reminisce about Fair Park and what it meant, not just to the city as a whole, but specifically it’s impact on individuals like the two of us. I was able to share with him some stories I had recently learned in doing my research on the history of Fair Park. There is a short article documenting that conversation, beginning on page 30, as well as some beautiful photos of the recently restored Hall of State and of my first preservation project from many years ago, the Concrete Centennial House (Portland Cement Association Model Home of the Future).
